Last Wednesday evening Iowa author Linda Betsinger McCann spoke about the Civilian Conservation Corps at the Webb Shadle Memorial Library. She spoke about the 1930’s and how the Great Depression cost many Americans their jobs, homes and security. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) offered young men the chance to provide for their struggling families and change the landscape of the country by planting trees, creating lakes and many other projects. Linda is a delightful storyteller who has widely researched the activities of the Civilian Conservation Corps. She told stories and gave information on what life was like for those individuals and whose families where involved in the CCC. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend this fascinating event and thank you to Linda for joining us!!
