Nancy Drew is one of the most popular female detectives in fiction. Few know, however, that Nancy is an Iowa heroine and that her creator was Mildred Augustine of Ladora. Barbara Lounsberry, a recently retired Professor of English at the University of Northern Iowa, will discuss the legacy of the creator and the ongoing popularity of her creation.
